- Meet the Photographer -

Very creative by nature, I've always had a passion for visual Arts - Photography in particular.

In my early teens, I bought my first SLR camera, I took photos of anything and EVERYTHING..  

Whilst still living at home with my parents, back in the days of film, before digital photography had even arrived, I had my own darkroom and I taught myself to develop and print my work, just through reading books.

It came as no surprise then, that when I finished mainstream school, I went on to Art College where I could study Photography with access to much better equipment and facilities.  

Whilst there, I obviously learned a lot more technical skills and darkroom techniques, and although the technology has moved on tremendously since then, it made for a great foundation, since all of those principles, regarding light & shade, and composition, and darkroom terminology still apply.

As a young college student I got involved in the local music scene, and my reputation as a photographer soon became known, and I was hired to do promotional photos for a number of bands. I also did studio portraits, and a few Weddings for family and friends.  

I was very excited when I got the gig as 'Official photographer' for a local music festival, and through that, I was asked to do an album cover for one of the Artistes, all before I was 20.

Fast forward>> many cameras, many photos, and many many years later, I am still passionate about photography.  

Over the years, I have studied and explored many different Genres of Photography; 

I love walking in Nature, so I have always enjoyed photographing Wildlife & Landscapes my camera goes everywhere with me.

I enjoyed Wedding Photography for a number of years. It always felt like a huge privilege to be invited 'behind the scenes' - as it were, to witness and capture all the emotions throughout such a special day.  I never took it for granted, it was always a great honour.  My closest Wedding was in my home town of Yeovil, my furthest Wedding was for a client in Croatia.  

I was asked by a friend to do a Maternity photoshoot.  This was an exciting challenge for me, as it enabled me to use my studio skills.  I have professional lights and stands, and backdrops.  Again it was a lovely shoot because it was so personal.  She and her partner enjoyed a lovely bonding session together, with all the excitement and anticipation of their first baby.  So I did some more of those.  

I also undertook training in Newborn photography, from two of the most renowned professionals in the business.   Newborn is specialist photography.  One needs to be trained for the safety of all concerned.  I absolutely loved it, capturing the pure innocence of such sweet little souls, all fresh and new, and sharing in those tender moments with proud new Mums.  I used to take my beanbag and lights and camera out to peoples houses to enable them to stay in the comfort of their own homes.  Fabulous moments.

I also found great joy in photographing 'Cake Smashes' for first birthdays, and with that, I found my forté.

Not just 1 year olds, but Children of all ages.  I love to make our sessions fun and I quickly win them over to enable me to capture those wonderful natural giggles & smiles.  The sessions are always unique to the children I photograph.  You cannot make a child do anything they don't want to do, so I always keep it natural and I always have fun things for them to do.  I will always have the parents present and I get them involved in the ideas and join in the fun too.

I have been DBS cleared, and I have had training in First Aid and Health & Safety.  The safety of my clients is paramount.

Studio Photography. I have recently got my own private photography studio here in Yeovil, Somerset.   I particularly love studio work, as I can have complete control of the light and the space I work in.  I love to do Mini Shoots for Christmas, or Valentines, or Anniversaries.

I also do Family shoots and Professional Headshots.

I have props I can use for 'Fairy' Shoots.
